Courses

Training can be delivered at any suitable location including companies own premises. Many skills based courses are delivered in close co-operation with Billingsgate Seafood Training School. The School is located at Billingsgate Market and has facilities to accomodate 50 people for lectures and demonstration based courses. A skills room for fish preparation has 10 blocks for knife skills training.

Get into Fishmongering! Free Introductory Course (1 day)

City & Guilds Seafood Retail Certificate (2 days)

• Knife Skills (skinning, gutting, filleting etc), Instructor lead, half day at Billingsgate Seafood Training School, further information here.

• Quality Assessment of Fish and Shellfish for EHOs. Two days at Billingsgate specifically designed for Environmental Health Officers, further information here.

• Key Skills Training, In association with Newham College of Further Education the GTA is delighted to be able to offer London Seafood companies the opportunity to receive free workplace training. further information here.

• Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene: Open Learning Module This is a popular and cost effective method of achieving the CIEH Foundation certificate in Food Hygiene. At a cost of £45, students receive a comprehensive book broken down into easy to manage chapters which includes self assessment questions. Once this has been completed (should take 6 hours) students take a multiple choice test which on passing leads to the certificate. Included in the price is the book, telephone support and the cost of one examination and certificate.
